Mìmì

秘密 (mìmì) is the Chinese phrase for secret. During the Victorian era, it was not socially appropriate to be as open about your feelings as it is now. They had to rely on many hidden ways to proclaim messages of love to those they cared about. One such way was with acrostic jewelry, in which the first letter of each gemstone would spell out a word such as "REGARD" or "DEAREST". 

Mìmì is also a play on my childhood nickname 咪咪 (mimi) which is short for 笑咪咪 (shiào mimi). My mom gave me this nickname because I was always happy and smiling. I hope these pieces bring a smile to your face knowing that you have been entrusted with these secrets.
